What will happen to the data that is in my current version of Complete Data?
All data (e.g. Contacts, Listings, Scheduled Tasks etc) will be imported from your current version to the new 5.0 version. We cannot import any changes you have made to drop down lists/check boxes, however these can be copied and pasted from your current version to the new 5.0 version.
Will I lose any custom changes (reports, new fields, brochures) that I have made to my current version?
The Complete Data team will work with you to identify any custom changes that have been made to your current version of Complete Data so that these can be brought across into the new version when you upgrade. The following is our preferred method for upgrading a customised version of Complete Data:
1 - we ship you a single user copy of the new version of Complete Data running under FileMaker Pro 10.0. You can then run this copy and your existing copy side by side on one computer to compare them and see if there are any additional fields and layouts that have been added to your existing copy that need to be added to the new copy. You will then need to document these changes so we can modify your new version in the same way. For example you might have a list as follows:
CD_Contacts
New Fields:
xmas_card
newsletter_mailout
- added these to the Data Entry layout
CD_Listings
New Fields:
stamp_duty
unconditional_date
- added these to the Data Entry layout
CD_Marketing
- modified the Brochure and Just Sold layouts
This means at the end of the process the new copy is on par with your existing copy, then all we need to do is import the data into the new copy, switch off the old copy and upgrade the server and the other workstations.
When we're ready to roll out the upgrade across the whole office we will have to install the new version of FileMaker Pro 10.0 on all the workstations and also the new version of the server software on the server and import the data - this normally takes between 2-4 hours.

Terminal Services and Complete Data:
Windows Server 2003 Terminal Services is required to operate Complete Data v3.5 under Terminal Services. Note that the Terminal Services computer must NOT be the same computer as the Server referred to above.
You can get more information on the correct configuration of Terminal Services or Citrix at:
http://www.filemaker.com/downloads/pdf/fmp10_terminal_services.pdf
http://www.filemaker.com/downloads/pdf/fmp10_citrix_guide.pdf
Complete Data doesn't recommend the use of wireless networks.
We currently access Complete Data via Terminal Services. Will Complete Data v5.0 run under Terminal Services?
FileMaker Pro 10.0 and FileMaker Server 10.0 work in a similar way to FileMaker Pro 6 and FileMaker Server 5.5 that you are currently running. Windows Server 2003 Terminal Services is required to access Complete Data v5.0 under Terminal Services. You can get more information on the correct configuration of Terminal Services at:
